Why choose Aloha Air Conditioning?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

We asked our staff to write a few words about why they felt you should choose Aloha A/C over the rest of our HVAC competition.

Tim Flaherty responded first by writing “Loyalty, Honestly & Service Oriented“.  Tim has been providing free Estimates on replacement equipment for Aloha Air Conditioning since 1985.

Rodrick Phillips had this to say ” All of our technicians are HVAC certified and mechanically inclined. Aloha is a customer based service and repair company always looking for a way to provide the needed service while saving customers money. ”  Rod has over 40 years of experience and has been performing prevenitive maintenance and air duct cleanings since he came on board.

Edna Barry the back bone of the behind the scenes at aloha air had the following statement to add. “Aloha AC was founded on the foundation of (If you want the job done right) After 28 going on 29 years. The Aloha team has treated their heating and cooling customers as part of our family!”

Sheree Farrier also took the time to chime in with ” Our Loyalty to our customers, Our fast response time, Our reputation and the fact that when Parts are needed We make every attempt to deliver them and get your HVAC system running again the same day!” Sheree has been the first to answer the phone for the pasted 15 years. Some may even think she’s the owner.

Keep checking back and see what others have to say as we add them.

HVAC Air Conditioning System Dehumidistat Settings

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Dehumidistats are devices typically installed with air conditioning heating and coolingsystems in Florida homes where the home is unoccupied during the summer months.  Humidistats are installed for economic reasons to reduce the run time of the air conditioning system and therefore lower utility cost.  There is much confusion as to exactly what these devices do and on how to set them.  Here, we will take the mystery out of the vacation dehumidistat and provide help in setting the control properly.

Most dehumidistats are wired in series with the power to the thermostat (although some older units are wired in parallel).  The device is nothing more than a switch which closes the circuit to the thermostat when the humidity is above the setting on the dial.  It is normal to see the display go blank on a digital thermostat when the humidity is below the dial setting.  When wired in series, it takes both a humidity level in the home above the dial setting and the temperature in the home above the thermostat setting, before the system will run.  The idea is that it can be 90 degrees in the home, but unless there is high humidity, the system does not need to run (and therefore saves electricity).  When the home is occupied, the dial should be set to ON to prevent the dehumidistat from interrupting the air conditioning operation.

On units wired in parallel, the dehumidistat acts to override the thermostat.  The system will run when the humidity is above the dial setting regardless of the temperature.  This method is not as efficient and is no longer widely used.

When leaving for extended periods during the summer months, set your vacation dehumidistat and thermostat as follows:

              DEHUMIDISTAT DIAL: 70% (Relative Humidity)
              THERMOSTAT MODE: Cooling
              TEMPERATURE: 70 Degrees

We have found these settings to be best to reduce the chance of mold/mildew growth and still provide adequate utility savings.

If you have any questions about vacation dehumidistats or need to have one installed, please give us a call (954) 772 – 0079.

Aloha Air Conditioning Gordon S Customer Review Coral Springs Florida ac service

Mr. Gordan wrote: Rodrick Phillips services are AC units today and I agreed to have my picture taken and provide a statement for your web site.  Link this statement with my picture and thank Rodrick and your team. Within the last year I switched to Aloha AC for service and we recently installed a new American Standard, 5 ton, Allegiance 16 AC unit in our home.  I am very pleased with the service by the technicians and the management team of Aloha, but more important is the 22% saving in my FPL bill by converting to a much more efficient AC unit.  In addition, we received a $300 tax credit.  My only regret is that I didn’t replace the old unit sooner with Aloha.

Updated 5/3/12: We have had the pleasure of Mr. Gary A from Lighthouse Point being our customer since 2005. We were surprised and are grateful to be able to share this letter

On 4/12/12 we met Janet B. she had performed a Google search for “rheem repair 33433” and chose Aloha because she has a Hawaiian back ground and the name Aloha Air caught her eye.

She was a pleasure to speak with and we tried to help her self diagnose her trouble shoot and get her back up and running. After a short time we decided it would be best to sent a technician over. She was more then happy to pose and write a comment about how we made her and her dogie feel.

This is what she wrote, “OMG COLD Thank you! Derek! Oh my Goodness, Derek was the best ever! He gets 200% above the best. He is true ALOHA man. Mahala the rocks totally! I am in love (only I am 30 years to old + he has a family) Most polite kind helpful wonderful man!! AND IT’S COLD!” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves and you can’t make stuff like this up as you can see in the picture below.

Our 144 Residents were grateful for the fast and reliable workmanship that we came to expect from Aloha. From day one, it was a pleasure working with Jim, Tim, Sherri, and Joey. This is one great team that had my utmost respect when I made a service call. They were always only too willing to work overtime to handle any situation for our Residents and the complex in General. Attached is a photo of the two large Evapco towers that Aloha installed a few years back, in place of the older Marley Towers. Aloha has kept them in excellent condition, as we had preventive maintenance plans in place. Besides these large units, Aloha serviced and replaced the smaller reverse cycled ones in each of the units. Joey and all Aloha Techs had a great rapport with the residents. They were always courteous and always put the customer first. It was a real pleasure working with Aloha all of those years and please feel free to contact me if you are considering a new unit (of any type) or for excellent service.”

The Fresh-Aire UV Light reduces odors, toxic chemical vapors, germs and mold in your home.

Friday, November 12th, 2010

A lot of people ask, “Does the UV light produce smells”. Well the answer is yes, some brands do for a short period of time after being newly installed. However, the brand we offer does not produce any noticeable smell after install.

The FRESH-AIRE UV light is installed in the duct-work of your central air system and is designed to help reduce odors, toxic chemical vapors, germs and mold in your home.

Detox the air in your home and protect you and your loved ones from:

  • Alternaria
  • Dust Mites
  • Aspergillus
  • E Coli
  • Pollen
  • Mold

How does the UV Light work?

By removing airborne contaminants as the air is circulated by the central HVAC system. Using a proprietary absorption media to capture VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) then reduces the captured constituents through an innovative photo-cytaltic oxidation process (PCO) which breaks them down into elemental carbon dioxide and water vapor.

Toxic airborne compounds are captured in the photo-catalytic carbon matrix

As odors and chemical contaminants circulate through your air handling system, the ultraviolet light unit utilizes a highly absorptive carbon media which captures these contaminants, removing them from the air stream, much like a sponge absorbs water.

The toxic molecules are broken down into simple water vapor and CO2

During the off cycles of the air handler the UV Light self-regenerating photo-catalytic oxidation process breaks down the captured contaminants and frees up the carbon cell to be able to capture additional airborne VOC’s and odors.

UV Light limits the spead of bio-contaminants like mold and viruses

In addition to the units system’s ability to absorb airborne VOCs, the UV light helps to maintain the cleanliness of your central ac system by shining on the duct-work, cooling coils, heat strips and blowers that are prone to biological growth that can contaminate and clog the system.

UV-C Light Kills Germs

For over a century scientists have known that certain frequencies of light have a devastating effect on microbial life. We now know that exposure to ultraviolet light in the range of 254 NM (UV-C band) disrupts the DNA of micro-organisms, thus preventing them from reproducing, thereby effectively killing them.

The Science of Clean Air

Over time mold can build up on cooling coils. this is a health risk that robs the air system of efficiency and requires cleaning with chemicals. The germicidal UV light inside kills mold and keeps the coil and air system interior clean.

Recent studies have shown that the level of invisible airborne organic chemical and odor contaminates in our indoor air is generally two to five times higher then the levels found outdoors. while some of these substances merely smell bad, others can be extremely harmful.

these contaminates, known as Volatile Organic Compounds are carbon-based chemicals that easily evaporate at room temperature. The unique technology inside the Fresh-Arie UV helps to eliminate VOCs, making your home a safer and more pleasant place to live.

Common Sources of VOCs Include:

  • Buildings materials
  • Carpets and adhesives
  • Upholstery fabrics
  • Vinyl floors
  • Composite wood products
  • Paints and varnishes
  • Sealing caulks and glues
  • Carpet cleaning solvent
  • Home and personal care products
  • Air cleaners that produce ozone
  • Cleaning and disinfecting chemicals
  • Cosmetics
  • Smoking and fireplaces
  • Fuel oil and gasoline
  • Moth balls
  • Vehicle exhaust from an attached garage

We look forward to discussing your home air quality with you.
